Jimmy LeHoux Interview

Jimmy LeHoux may be an unknown to the country music fans at this point but he has taken a lot of the right steps to put his name out there and prepare himself for the next step. His debut album “Thirteen” was produced by Tom McBee and included some cuts that were written by top Nashville writers. He won Kenny Chesney’s Next Big Star competition over this summer in Boston. And on March 14th, Jimmy LeHoux will take part in Wishstock in Concord, New Hampshire at the Capitol Center For The Arts. We caught up with Jimmy to talk about the album, his live shows, Wishstock, and more.

1. For someone that hasn’t heard your music yet, what can they expect to hear when they hit play on your album “Thirteen?”

Well the first thing they can expect, or I hope they would expect to hear is that it’s something different. I try to remain truthful to the country roots but also give an edge to it and I think that we accomplished that with the more island type songs, and some of the ballads, where they guitar whines on it. The second thing they can expect to hear is that every song on the album is different from each other and unique on to itself. We purposely did that with this album. Working with Tom McBee was a lot of fun and the goal was to not have songs that sound similar to each other.

On Friday night, July 25th, Jimmy and his band took the stage at the packed Hard Rock Café in Boston to face off with three other finalists, performing for a panel of music industry professionals. Their performance clinched the spot and the next day was a whirlwind. "It was amazing to be on that stage with Sammy Hagar, LeAnn Rimes, Keith Urban and, of course Kenny Chesney", says Lehoux of the experience. "The audience response was incredible and the whole organization treated us like superstars. I soaked in every minute. It was awesome!"

As one of the local market winners, Jimmy is now in the running for a grand prize package that includes three more opening slots on the Poets & Pirates Tour and a live audition for the executives of SONY/BMG Records at their Nashville office.
